Italian circa 1730, with triple staged 13 1/2in. iron barrel in the white, the breech section octagonal to sixteen-sided, moulded band at the intersection, applied fore-sight, solid square-tipped top-tang, strongly curved bevel-edged flat lock with engraved borders and stepped pointed tail, 'VITI' signed beneath the lozenge pan, bridle-less frizzen, burr-walnut full-stock with carved borders (fore-end tip renewed in antiquity), moulded iron furniture including bulbous butt-cap with long side-spurs, bevel edged trigger-guard and tang, complex sideplate, faceted thimbles and probable replacement wood ramrod, some working inlet repairs
